Spring airsoft shotguns offer more range than spring pistols. Many new players make the mistake of buying a shotgun as their first airsoft gun just to save a few bucks. Usually within a month they have purchased an AEG.

Airsoft shotguns are far from useless. With a sling an airsoft shotgun can be thrown over your back -- this makes it a practical secondary weapon despite its size. They are fun to shoot -- just not exclusively all day long.
